| Currently state owned Turkish airlines is covering most of the domestic flights, however in the beginning of 2004 some private companies started to operate as well and some others are making plans to get in to the Market. Istanbul has two airports. Ataturk airport (AYT) on the European part of Istanbul is the main airport, however due to its heavy traffic, Sabiha Gokcen airport (SAW) on the Asian side of Istanbul has become popular for budget flights. |

Turkish airlines: The main air traffic is covered through Istanbul and Ankara airports. Flights to some eastern cities do connect from Ankara. THY operates domestic flies from both airports of Istanbul. Turkish airlines has 80 planes. |

PEGASUS Airways: Pegasus airlines was working on the international lines mainly, however as of 1st of November they have started their domestic flights also. The flights departs from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport (2nd airport of Istanbul). Pegasus has 14 Boeing 737 airplanes. |
