Istanbul international intercity bus terminal is located at Esenler. The bus terminal has its own Metro station passing below the terminal. There is also a taxi service available and many Bus Companies have shuttles to several destinations within the city.
If you are traveling to Aksaray or Sultanahmed districts, You can take the metro below the terminal and take the route to Aksaray. The metro tokens are 1,1 YTL(0,8 USD).
 When you reached the last stop of Metro (Aksaray station), exit from the metro station, you will see the signs of the Tramline. You shall walk around 100 meters, Tramline is just a head of Metro station. You will arrive to "Yusufpasa station" of the Tram line. You shall get on the Eminonu Line which is on the other side of the pedestrian passage. Tram tokens can be obtained in every stop and the cost is again 1 YTL.
Trams are passing in every 5 minutes. And they have a good air condition system. When you get on the tram the first stop is Aksaray, there are several hotels in this district, Watch out for yrs. The next stop is the University, followed by Beyazit and cemberlitas. Afterwards you will be in Sultanahmet square another main district and many hotels are also located nearby. After three more stops, Tram arrives to Eminonu. The pier and port of the touristy region.
If you are planning to travel to the Airport, Metro is the best alternative going directly to the airport. For other districts you can consult to your bus company and ask if they have shuttle services. |
Istanbul has two train stations, one each on both continents. If you are coming from a European city, than you will arrive to Sirkeci train station at Eminonu (Sirkeci). Sirkeci train station is on the center of Touristy peninsula, so you may not have difficulties in transport. Tram just passes in front of the train station and if you are going to travel to Sultanahmed or Aksaray just take the tram for a couple of stops. For other locations you can try the taxis or domestic buses, which leaves 100 meter down the station, on the Eminonu pier.
