Transportation by train is taking a very small part of transport in Turkey, due to lack of comfortable trains and train lines.  Currently state owned Turkish Railways is operating all the domestic Trains. Train travel in Turkey is relatively slow and sometimes lack of air-conditioning. New modernizations are still in progress. Some major train routes that can be reached via Train are as follows.
Trains to Turkish cities leave from the Haydarpasa Train station on the Asian side of Istanbul. You need to take a ferry from Eminonu port to Haydarpasa port. There are three ports at Eminonu port and ferries from the No:2 port leaves for Kadikoy and they also stop at Haydarpasa port, which is adjacent to Haydarpasa train station. |

| By Ferry: |
|
Ferry operation in Turkey is being held by Turkish Maritime organization and Istanbul sea bus org. (IDO). Maritime line ferries operates to Avsa island in inner Marmara sea and to Izmir in summer season. Travel to Izmir by ferry is around 15hrs, due to long travel time the line is IDO operates with fast ferries to Bandirma. Bandirma line is very busy due it shortens the travel from Istanbul to Izmir by car. Fast ferries also transport cars and reduces the 9 hour journey to Izmir to 6 hours.
