Sabiha Gökçen Airport is 40km (25 miles) from the city center, and located on the Asian side of Istanbul. It is Turkey's newest international airport, and opened in 2001. The airport is used mainly for a sub to Ataturk airport. International air traffic was very low. However after the opening of new terminal in November 2009, Airport has become an important air traffic destination. Currently Turkish airlines and some local airline companies are using the airport mainly. There are also flights to some European cities and Gulf countries via charter flights.
Turkish airlines and Pegasus Airlines (Local) are operating domestic and international flights from SAW. For international flights, thereare also some charter companies such as "Easy Jet", "Germain Wings", "Condor", "Corendon", "MyAir" and "Air Arabia" are using this airport very frequently. You can have budget flights to many German cities, major European cities and UAE. After the opening of new terminal all flights are now directed from the new terminal. The new terminal has also got its oqn car park, Duty free shops and food and shopping court.
The airport is located at the Asian side of Istanbul and it is far from the city center. Havas (private shuttle company) is organizing bus transfers to the major points on Asian side of Istanbul. (travel time 30-45 minutes). Havas have also connections to Taksim and 4. Levent ( Business District) by shuttle buses. Also some travel agencies has their shuttles from the airport. The Shuttle buses leaves in front of the arrival terminal.
Sabiha Gokcen airport has also got publice bus transport to the major locations. The buses are express buses and head directly to the transfer points such as 4.Levent (Metro Station on European side), Kadıkoy, Bostancı and Pendik.. Arrivals & Departures

| Havas have shuttle buses for each domestic and international flights. Buses leaves every hour from 04:00 to 01:00.

Public buses Schedule
As Sabiha Gokcen airport has become an important airport, more connections to the city center is available. Currently there are publice bus services from the airport to the main transfer points in Istanbul. Bus routes are as follows; Line E- 3 : From SAW to 4. Levent . 4. Levent is the main metro connection stop on the European part of istanbul and Metro leads to Taksim square. E-3 buses travels to Saw to 4. Levent around 50 -70minutes. Click for Bus Hours
Line E- 10 : From SAW to Kadıkoy. Kadıkoy is the center of the Asian side of Istanbul and there are many bus, train or ferry connections to the other parts of istanbul. If you are going to stay at Eminonu or Sultanahmet area you can take ferry to Sirkeci from Kadıkoy. E-10 buses travels to Saw to Kadıkoy around 35 -50 minutes. Click for Bus Hours
Buses accepts three tickets per trip and they are express buses and do not stop on sub stations.
Taxis are available 24 hours a day. Taxi cost to Kadikoy (Center of Asian part) costs around 50,- TL (30-35 USD). |
